Are alluminum rims better on an RV?
When it comes to Aluminum rim vs the classic Steel rims, the answer of which is better can be a matter of debate and depends upon how you plan on using your RV.
The larger consensus favors Aluminum over steel almost always due to the lighter weight, resistance to heat, and the better handling and braking.
Steel tends to win out where conditions are more geared for winter travel and frequent travel over roads that have been de-iced. Also, largely unpaved roads where pot holes are a large concern is another reason to opt to forgo "upgrading" to the aluminum rims if presented with the choice.
In many situations aluminum rims have the advantage though especially for Class A RV's where the better handling and easier braking is a huge benefit. The aluminum rims also resist heating up better than the steel rims which helps when long hauls and frequent tire pressure checks come in to play.
